Name: Barb Gerbitz Intermediate Horsemanship Clinic
    Date: July 21, 2018 - July 22, 2018
    Event Description:
Alison attended last year's Legacy of Legends event, which hosts trainers/clinicians that have been inspired by the teachings of Dorrance and Hunt. There were many talented horsemen/women there to watch, but one stood out above the rest to Alison. There was a great sense of softness, feel, kindness, and great effectiveness in communication (by doing less) between Barb Gerbitz and the filly that she was starting. The transformation for that little horse was simply a pleasure to watch. We are pleased to announce that Barb is coming to Sisters, Oregon all the way from Tampico, IL to share her philosophy with those in our area. This Intermediate Horsemanship clinic is her only clinic on the West coast!
Sat/Sun riding fee is $380, auditors are $20/day
Lunch is included in price for riders
1 day on lessons may be scheduled
2 slots will be funded by Solid Strides for riders that have either adopted from Solid Strides or who volunteer with an equine rescue.

    Barb Gerbitz Bio:
Barb Gerbitz, horsemanship clinician from Tampico, IL, has been studying, teaching and training horsemanship, vaquero style horsemanship and classical dressage training techniques and philosophies since 1997. She travels for most of the year to a number of equine facilities, to share her passion for horses and the many lessons she has learned. She has been described as tactful, intentional, effective and refined on the ground as well as in the saddle. Barb creates a relaxed and supportive clinic environment where she consistently demonstrates the ability to effectively teach a broad range of topics to all levels of horses and riders.
“I approach all of my students the same way I do my horses. Each student is special and unique; they each come into the arena with their own talents and challenges.
My job is to try to meet them where they’re at and to teach and challenge them appropriately, so they might discover their own potential.
If I can get some things working for the human so that they are feeling more confident; that really carries over to what their horse feels their partner has to offer, so they can both feel good about things. Every horse and human is at a different stage and I try to adjust for that, to make the most of our time together. It’s a pretty special privilege to be invited to be a part of a horse and riders journey and to witness the “Try” and the “Change” that occurs on both sides.”
Barb’s goal for every clinic is to provide an inspiring, challenging and supportive environment for each individual to grow and learn new skills towards developing positive, productive and respectful relationships.
Barb is also a serious student who believes we should never stop learning and continues her own education, while supporting quality horsemanship in the Midwest.

In 2018 she will study with several top horsemen including Buck Brannaman, Jaton Lord and Joe Wolter.
She is a clinic host and colt starting participant for Buck Brannaman in Hampshire, IL in Sept. 2018.

Barb will also attend Buck Brannaman’s invitational colt starting at his ranch in Sheridan, WY in June of 2018.
And she will also attend A Legacy of Legends in Ft. Worth Texas, to start a colt in Jaton Lord’s pen.
And over twenty years later, Barb still has a passion for colt starting. “We should never forget those basics. The horse’s foundation is the most important part of their education. We take those basics right up through their whole lifetime of learning. It’s also somewhere we can go back to whenever they need our support.”
