           OTOBA PostTimes
As of July 31st, what Thoroughbred leads North America for number of wins in 2017?

It is none other than Oregon-bred Cantchaco!  A seven-year-old gelding, Cantchaco (by Ochoco, out of Can't Woman, by Can't Be Slew) has had a stellar campaign, winning nine of his 11 starts this year.  His most recent score, a 3 1/2 length triumph in the Great Falls Turf Club Feature Stakes, was his fifth straight win.

And win streaks are nothing new for Cantchaco.  From November 20, 2016 through April 23, 2017, he rattled off seven straight victories.  What makes it all the more remarkable is that Cantchaco's nine wins in 2017 have come at five different tracks (Crooked River, Great Falls, Lethbridge, Rillito, and Sun Downs).   Not much doubt about which horse is the pride of owner/trainer Jaqueline Smith's barn.  Overall in his career, the Larry and Gay Welliver bred warrior has won 25 of his 53 career starts, and earned $105,249.
